The General Power Rule

 If  $u$  is a differentiable function of  $x$ , then
  $\int u^{n}{\frac {du}{dx}}dx=\int u^{n}du={\frac {u^{n+1}}{n+1}}+C$  for  $n\neq -1$

Exercises 1 Find the indefinite integral

1) $\int (5x^{2}+1)^{2}(10x)dx$

Solution:
Let $u=5x^{2}+1$ , so $du=10xdx$
$\int (5x^{2}+1)^{2}(10x)dx=\int u^{2}du={\frac {u^{2+1}}{2+1}}+C={\frac {u^{3}}{3}}+C={\frac {(5x^{2}+1)^{3}}{3}}+C$

2) $\int {\sqrt {1-x^{2}}}(-2x)dx$

Solution:
Let $u=1-x^{2}$ , so $du=-2xdx$
$\int {\sqrt {1-x^{2}}}(-2x)dx=\int {\sqrt {u}}du=\int u^{\frac {1}{2}}du={\frac {u^{{\frac {1}{2}}+1}}{{\frac {1}{2}}+1}}+C={\frac {u^{\frac {3}{2}}}{\frac {3}{2}}}+C={\frac {2}{3}}u^{\frac {3}{2}}+C={\frac {2}{3}}(1-x^{2})^{\frac {3}{2}}+C$
