This is just a first attempt at an animation made with SketchUp and Gimp.
It represents rotating the region enclosed by Failed to parse (MathML with SVG or PNG fallback (recommended for modern browsers and accessibility tools): Invalid response ("Math extension cannot connect to Restbase.") from server "https://wikimedia.org/api/rest_v1/":): {\displaystyle \sqrt {x}} and Failed to parse (MathML with SVG or PNG fallback (recommended for modern browsers and accessibility tools): Invalid response ("Math extension cannot connect to Restbase.") from server "https://wikimedia.org/api/rest_v1/":): {\displaystyle x^2} around the y-axis. The steps represented are
- Presenting the region;
- Superimposing horizontal rectangles;
- Revolving a single rectangle to produce a washer;
- Revolving the remaining rectangles to produce a volume approximation with washers;
- Realizing the final volume as a limit.
